Tackifiers
The TAC™ series are tackifiers used to improve the adhesion of oils and lubricants to reduce lubricant splashing. They can be used in metalworking fluids, rust preventatives, spindle oils, chain lubricants and hydraulic fluids.
Tack improvers are added to lubricants to reduce splashing from machine elements in motion, thus increasing lubrication efficiency. Their primary effect is an enhanced lubricant viscosity, particularly at low shear stress, and increased adhesion of oil films to metal surfaces. Lubricating oils doped with tack improvers exhibit enhanced structural viscosity and consequently, a non-Newtonian behaviour under shear stress. This results in a slower increase of frictional drag at high shear rates than with Newtonian fluids.
