TiO2 replacement – inbond

inbond – you JOKER in your paint formulation!

inbond is a composite product based on talc, titanium dioxide and precipitated calcium carbonate. It’s very effective product that helps to optimize and reduce costs of formulations. It allows to replace titanium dioxide in 1:1 ratio. Our multi-stage, self-engineered production process allows the coating and overprinting of talcum or talcum/precipitated calcium carbonate platelets with titanium dioxide. This makes a surface characteristic similar to classical TiO2 .

The target is to exchange TiO2 by inbond in order to save costs but at the same time to reach similar results in terms of rheology, stability, opacity and gloss. Depending on the type of formulation, up to 30% of the TiO2 can be replaced.

Quantity of TiO2 replaceable by inbond:

Semi-gloss systems (PVC</=50)   5%-15%

Matt systems (PVC>60)   10%-30%

Primers/plasters   max. 50%

Outstanding properties

  • no change in optical properties- keeping hiding power, gloss and rheology on the same level
  • advantages of color strengthening effect- means savings in pigment paste
  • high covering capacity
  • lower oil count compared to conventional titanium dioxide extenders
  • weathering and UV stability
  • lamellar particle structure of talc
  • less settling effect
  • very well balanced hydrophilic/hydrophobic character with excellent dispersing properties, due to perfect combination of PCC and talc particles
  • best cost-performance ratio
  • inbond – your JOKER in your paint formulation!

Applications

  • interior and exterior coatings
  • road marking paints
  • sports field markers
  • plastics
  • construction chemicals
